Rodrigo nets a 70th-minute leveller for Leeds United as the Whites play out a 2-2 draw with West Ham United in the Premier League.

Rodrigo netted a 70th-minute leveller for Leeds United as the Whites played out a 2-2 draw with West Ham United in the Premier League at Elland Road.

Goals from Lucas Paqueta and Gianluca Scamacca sent the Hammers ahead after Wilfried Gnonto had made the breakthrough in the 27th minute of the contest.

However, Rodrigo came up with an equaliser for the Whites, who sit 14th in the Premier League table, boasting 17 points from their opening 17 matches of the season.

West Ham, meanwhile, occupy 17th spot in the table, having collected just 15 points from their 18 matches this term, which has left them 13 points from the top six.

David Moyes's side had the first half-chance of the contest in the 14th minute, with Paqueta having a goal-bound shot blocked after Pablo Fornals had delivered a dangerous corner into the Leeds box.

Leeds had to wait until the 23rd minute before creating anything of note, and the opportunity came from a deep cross from Marc Roca, but Rodrigo's volley deflected off Vladimir Coufal and behind for a corner kick.

The Whites made the breakthrough in the 27th minute of the contest, though, with Gnoto scoring his first Premier League goal.

Crysencio Summerville was the provider, with the 21-year-old sliding a pass into Gnoto, who took one touch to control before firing the ball into the bottom corner of the net past Lukasz Fabianski.

Leeds threatened to double their lead in the period that followed, with Gnoto bringing a smart save from Fabianski in the 31st minute before Brenden Aaronson missed the crossbar after good work from Roca four minutes later.

West Ham were having their moments, with Paqueta firing into the side-netting in the 36th minute before Coufal lifted the ball onto the roof of the net after Illan Meslier had raced off his line to challenge Jarrod Bowen.

The Hammers did have the ball in the back of the Leeds net in the 41st minute courtesy of a Tomas Soucek header, although the effort from the midfielder was chalked off for offside.

Paqueta then fired wide of the home side's goal after Pascal Struijk had challenged Bowen inside the box; the play was initially allowed to continue, but a penalty was later awarded for Struijk's tackle on Bowen, and Paqueta stepped forward to level the scores from the spot.

West Ham then took the lead shortly after the restart, with Scamacca finding the back of the net off the post with a strike from outside the Leeds box.

Both sides had opportunities in the spell that followed, with Fornals dragging an attempt wide of the Leeds goal before Liam Cooper and then Rodrigo had attempts for the home side just before the hour.

Leeds were level in the 70th minute, though, when Rodrigo collected a pass from Jack Harrison before picking out the bottom corner with a strike from just outside the box.

Fabianski did well to keep out another effort from Rodrigo in the 78th minute, before Cooper wasted a huge chance in the 85th minute, firing wide from close range after seeing his initial effort blocked by Michail Antonio.

Rodrigo had a golden chance to win it for Leeds in the final exchanges, but the attacker saw his header kept out by Fabianski, as the points were shared at Elland Road.
