Liverpool's Adam Lallana hopes "frustrating" injury setbacks are over

Adam Lallana is hopeful that he can stay fit for the rest of the season after missing Liverpool's last three matches with a thigh problem.

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana is hopeful that he can stay fit for the remainder of the season after recovering from a thigh problem.

The England international, who had an injury-plagued debut season in the 2014-15 campaign, has missed the Reds' last three matches.

The 27-year-old could play a part in tonight's Europa League game against Bordeaux as he aims to get Liverpool back to winning ways.

Brendan Rodgers's side have suffered back-to-back defeats in the Premier League, the most recent being a 3-1 loss to arch rivals Manchester United.

"I'm fully fit now," the Liverpool Echo quotes Lallana as saying. "I trained on Friday, it was too soon for United at the weekend but after another three or four days good training I'm ready for Thursday night.

"It was frustrating to have another setback but as a footballer you have to deal with that. Hopefully I can now stay fit for the rest of the season.

"We've had a couple of bad results but that won't continue. I've got an immense amount of confidence that results will turn. As a club we have got to stick together through the good times and the bad times. This is a good chance to start getting a bit of momentum back again."

Rodgers has rested six first-team players for tonight's match in France.
