Newcastle United have reportedly missed out on another of their transfer targets as Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo is instead being sent on loan to a Championship club.
The Magpies had been hopeful of signing the England age-grade youngster for around £10m, fresh on the back of his success at the Under-20s World Cup in South Korea.
Liverpool want Ojo to drop down a level on a temporary basis, however, with the Liverpool Echo reporting that it is a straight shootout between last season's beaten playoff semi-finalists Fulham and recently-relegated Middlesbrough.
Both teams are said to have made suitable offers for the youngster and Liverpool will let him decide, but the Reds may also consider selling the midfielder if a large enough offer is tabled by Newcastle.
Ojo has netted one goal in 13 appearances for Liverpool since emerging from the club's academy two years ago.
