Wayne Rooney reveals that he is ready to represent England at Euro 2012 once he serves his two-match suspension.

Wayne Rooney has revealed that he feels ready to represent England at Euro 2012 this summer.

The Manchester United striker has only just joined up with his teammates, having been given extra time off by manager Roy Hodgson to recover from a toe injury that is believed to have troubled him for a number of months.

Despite recovering from that complaint, Rooney will not be able to play until England's final group game against co-hosts Ukraine because of suspension.

Reflecting on his ban, Rooney has admitted that he will use his time to ensure that he is fully fit for when he is required.

"I've had a nice rest and I needed that rest," Rooney told Sky Sports News. "I feel good. There's obviously a few weeks until I get play so I will get some good training in and I will be ready for that game if needed.

"I think it is important to do my training right. I've had a long time to think about missing those first two games. It is obviously disappointing but it is something that I have dealt with. I am looking forward to the first game for the lads."

As well as Ukraine, the Three Lions have also been paired with France and Sweden in the group stages.

With that in mind, the 26-year-old is under no illusions that England will have to be at their best in order to progress.

"Everyone knows that it is a tough group and there are some good teams in the group," he added.

"We have to make sure we are focused on every game and get the points that we need to get through."

Rooney has scored 28 goals at international level.
