Jeremain Lens scores twice as the Netherlands record a 4-1 victory over Hungary in Ujpest.

A brace from Jeremain Lens has helped the Netherlands secure a 4-1 win over Hungary in Ujpest.

The Dutch managed to catch the hosts off guard by taking the lead in the third minute when Jeremain Lens found space inside the area to head in Luciano Narsingh's perfect cross.

However, Hungary equalised just five minutes later through Balazs Dzsudzsak, with the midfielder calmly converting a penalty after Zoltan Gera was fouled by Jordy Clasie.

The dramatic events continued to unfold in the first period and the visitors managed to restore their lead in the 19th minute.

Wesley Sneijder's importance to the Dutch was clear during the opening stages and it was the midfielder's vision that created the goal, with Bruno Martins Indi being handed the easy task of heading in from close range.

The visitors were made to wait until 10 minutes into the second half before extending their lead, as Lens added his second of the game with a strike that nestled in the bottom corner of the net.

Lens turned provider in the 75th minute as the Netherlands scored their fourth goal of the match thanks to a well-placed shot from substitute Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to complete a confident performance from the Dutch.
