Benito Floro 'to be named as Canada boss'

Former Real Madrid boss Benito Floro is believed to be close to becoming the new manager of the Canadian national team.

Former Real Madrid manager Benito Floro is reportedly on the brink of being named as the new coach of Canada.

The Canadian Soccer Association will unveil the 61-year-old as national team boss at a press conference on Friday, according to Reuters.

The news is apparently being circulated by a host of local agencies, but the Canadian FA is yet to officially confirm the appointment.

Floro managed Real between 1992 and 1994, and has since coached Villarreal, Sporting Gijon, Mallorca, Japanese side Vissel Kobe, Mexico's CF Monterrey and Morocco's Wydad Athletic Club.

Canada have been without a manager since Stephen Hart stepped down last October.
