Preview: Paris Saint-Germain vs. Galatasaray - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Paris Saint-Germain's meeting with Galatasaray in the Champions League, including a prediction, team news and predicted lineups.

Paris Saint-Germain will look to round off a successful Champions League group stage in style with a home win over Galatasaray.

Thomas Tuchel's men are guaranteed to top a group containing Real Madrid, while Galatasaray look set to finish bottom following a disappointing campaign in Europe.

For a team whose success every season is based on performance in Europe, Tuchel's men can be very happy with how the campaign has gone so far.

A 3-0 victory over Real Madrid in September was an example of PSG, following a calamitous exit from Europe last season, showing to the world what kind of standards they expect to meet.

That they have only conceded twice in five group games - both coming away to Madrid - is an example of how PSG are placing more emphasis on having a solid base from which dominant European performances can emerge.

Indeed, should the Ligue 1 champions suffer a similar fate to the one inflicted on them by Manchester United in March, then Tuchel will need no reminder to pack up his things and head for the exit door.

In an essentially meaningless game for both sides, PSG will be expected to put on a performance full of ambition and style against the Turkish side.

Galatasaray's troubles in Europe come up against a wider backdrop of poor performances since August from Fatih Terim's side.

Having won consecutive Turkish Super Lig titles, the Istanbul side find themselves marooned in sixth place this time around, eight points behind surprise leaders Sivasspor.

Following a remarkably busy summer during which 14 players arrived, including Radamel Falcao and Mario Lemina, Galatasaray have the look of a team struggling under the weight of such rapid change.

On paper, a midfield of Lemina, Jean Michael Seri and Steven Nzonzi holds tantalising potential, but you suspect that the club requires much more time before all the moving parts start properly working in conjunction with each other.

The meeting with PSG at the Parc des Princes therefore serves as a free hit for the Turkish side, who will be expected to suffer something of a drubbing in Paris.

Team News

PSG head into this game plagued by a burgeoning injury list, with midfielders Ander Herrera, Marco Verratti and Idrissa Gueye all out with thigh injuries.

Presnel Kimpembe is also out with a thigh problem, while Loic Mbe Soh and Edinson Cavani are both sidelined as well.

Galatasaray will be without Emre Akbaba, who has a broken ankle, along with Christian Luyindama, whose knee ligament injury looks set rule him out for the season.

Florin Andone is not expected to return until the end of next month with a slightly less serious knee problem.

Paris Saint-Germain possible starting lineup:
Navas; Dagba, Diallo, Silva, Kurzawa; Marquinhos, Paredes, Draxler; Di Maria, Neymar, Choupo-Moting

Galatasaray possible starting lineup:
Muslera; Mariano, Donk, Marcao, Nagatomo; Nzonzi; Lemina, Serie, Belhanda, Bayram; Buyuk

We say: Paris Saint-Germain 4-0 Galatasaray

PSG have been ruthless in Europe this season, while Galatasaray have considerably struggled away from home in Europe, meaning that a dominant performance from the Ligue 1 champions looks to be firmly on the cards.
