Watford thrash lowly Millwall

Watford put four goals past a 10-man Millwall side in their Boxing Day clash in the Championship.

Watford have produced a fine display of attacking football to thrash Millwall 4-0 in their Championship encounter this afternoon.

Millwall were dealt a blow early on in the game as Danny Shittu was shown a straight red card for a poor challenge, which allowed Troy Deeney to step up and fire Watford ahead in the 10th minute.

Jermaine Easter tried to hit back for the visitors when he was played in by Justin Hoyte, but his effort was blocked by a defender.

Deeney was in again for the hosts minutes later thanks to Fernando Forestieri, but his effort was saved in the centre of the goal.

It did not matter, however, as Forestieri was on hand to add Watford's second of the half when he tucked home into the bottom right-hand corner.

Ikechi Anya increased the hosts' lead straight after half time as he latched on to a ball from George Thorne to fire home from outside of the box.

Steve Morison was punished for a handball in the penalty area in the 60th minute to give Watford their second spot kick of the game.

Lewis McGugan made no mistake with his effort by crashing the ball home into bottom right-hand corner, leaving the final score at 4-0.
