Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Arsenal could line up for Sunday's Community Shield clash with Manchester City.

Arsenal attacker Gabriel Jesus will miss out on a reunion with former club Manchester City when the two teams do battle in Sunday's Community Shield affair at Wembley.

The Brazilian has recently suffered from complications with his previous knee injury, and Mikel Arteta recently revealed that he would spend a few weeks on the sidelines following an operation.

Jesus is being kept company in the medical bay by Reiss Nelson (toe) and Albert Sambi Lokonga (muscle), while Mohamed Elneny is also yet to make his comeback from a severe knee issue.

Folarin Balogun is also touch-and-go due to a foot injury, while Jesus's fellow ex-Citizen Oleksandr Zinchenko is once again being given grief by a calf problem, although he briefly turned out in Saturday's Game4Ukraine.

As was the case after the World Cup, Jesus's absence should open the door for Eddie Nketiah, who scored Arsenal's equaliser in the recent Emirates Cup win over Monaco, although Leandro Trossard has also been a bright spark in pre-season for the Gunners.

Bukayo Saka sat out that clash with Monaco due to sickness but should now return to his rightful place in the attack, where Gabriel Martinelli should still beat out Trossard for a place on the left flank.

Record signing Declan Rice will be expected to make his first competitive appearance for the club here, potentially alongside Martin Odegaard and Thomas Partey, the latter of whom justified his starting role in the Emirates Cup.

Should Zinchenko fail to make the cut, the versatile Jurrien Timber and Takehiro Tomiyasu - who swapped flanks during Wednesday's win over Monaco - should be given the nod in the wide areas.

William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes's partnership remains unbreakable at the back, while Aaron Ramsdale is still the Gunners' number one amid their reported pursuit of Brentford's David Raya.

Arsenal possible starting lineup: Ramsdale; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Tomiyasu; Odegaard, Rice, Partey; Saka, Nketiah, Martinelli
