AS Monaco through to Champions League playoffs after victory over Fenerbahce

Monaco reach the Champions League playoffs after clinching a 3-1 win against Fenerbahce in their third qualifying round second-leg tie to progress 4-3 on aggregate.

AS Monaco have qualified for the Champions League playoffs after clinching a 3-1 win against Fenerbahce in their third qualifying round second-leg tie to progress 4-3 on aggregate at the King Louis II Stadium.

Valere Germain opened the scoring for the Ligue 1 side just three minutes in after receiving a pinpoint pass, getting himself one on one with goalkeeper Ertugrul Taskiran and slotting a low shot into the net.

Monaco then doubled their lead in the 18th minute after Hasan Ali Kaldirim conceded a foul in the box to gift the opposition a penalty, which Falcao duly rattled into the right-hand side of the goal.

The Turkish giants, however, would halve the deficit shortly before the hour, as Emmanuel Emenike latched on to a precise pass into the box and, with acres of space, struck home to put their opponents on edge.

Nonetheless, the night would belong to Leonardo Jardim's charges thanks to Germain's second goal of the night in the 65th minute, a first-time shot which flew into the roof of the net.
