Christian Benteke 'to miss Belgium's World Cup campaign with torn Achilles'

Aston Villa's Christian Benteke will reportedly miss Belgium's World Cup campaign after tearing his Achilles tendon in training.

Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke is reportedly expected to miss the World Cup with Belgium after tearing his Achilles tendon in training.

The 23-year-old, whose long-term future at Villa is said to be uncertain, was expected to be part of Marc Wilmots's squad for the tournament in Brazil this summer.

However, according to journalist Kristof Terreur, the forward has suffered the injury in training, which will put him on the sidelines for Villa's remaining seven Premier League games.

The Midlands outfit are currently 12th in the table, eight points above the relegation zone.
