Javier Mascherano has revealed that he "would love" to return to former club River Plate before hanging up his boots.
The Barcelona midfielder represented the Argentine club between 2003 and 2005, before moving on to Corinthians.
The 30-year-old signed a new four-year deal with Barca in August, but has claimed that he wants to return to his old stomping ground before retiring from the game.
"I would love to retire at River as it would represent going full circle," he told Fox Sports.
Mascherano has also played for West Ham United and Liverpool during a well-travelled career.
