Jerome Boateng pleased with development

Germany defender Jerome Boateng says that current Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola and former club manager Jupp Heynckes have "done so much" for his development.

Germany defender Jerome Boateng has credited Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola and the Spaniard's predecessor Jupp Heynckes for his impressive development in recent years.

Boateng, 27, joined Manchester City from Hamburger SV in 2010, but spent just one season in England before moving to Bayern, where he took his time to establish himself in the first team.

The centre-back has developed into one of the most consistent central defenders in world football over the last couple of years, however, and he has paid tribute to Guardiola and Heynckes.

"I feel I've developed well. I want to improve every day and enjoy it when I'm on the pitch. Heynckes and Pep have done so much for me. As well as my family, especially my brothers," Boateng told reporters.

The 54-time international footballer is currently with the Germany squad ahead of their upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers against Republic of Ireland and Georgia.
