Half-Time Report: Christophe Berra gives Ipswich Town lead

Ipswich Town lead 1-0 at half time at St Andrew's thanks to goal from Christophe Berra.

Christophe Berra has given Ipswich Town a 1-0 lead over Birmingham City at half time at St Andrew's this afternoon.

After a quiet start, Aaron Cresswell curled a dangerous looking cross into the box, but the home side won a free kick when Dan Burn was fouled by David McGoldrick.

However, Cresswell was able to whip the ball in again shortly after, this time finding the head of Berra, who nodded in to give the Tractor Boys the lead.

Andrew Shinnie tried to get Birmingham back on level terms just before half time, but his header went just over the bar, while Peter Lovenkrands saw his effort go wide moments earlier.

Meanwhile, there were chances for Ipswich to double their advantage, but McGoldrick was unable to find the target with a couple of late attempts.
