Maritimo edge past Boavista

Dyego Sousa heads the winner as 10-man Maritimo earn a 1-0 win away to Boavista in the Primeira Liga.

Maritimo have claimed their first away win of the Primeira Liga season after beating Boavista 1-0 at the Estadio do Bessa this evening.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 29th minute when Dyego Sousa headed Moussa Marega's cross into the bottom corner.

After the break, Douglas Abner had a huge chance to draw the hosts level, but his effort was blocked by the feet of Romain Salin.

Boavista had another opening minutes later as Ze Manuel pounced on a loose ball before firing his strike over the bar.

With four minutes of the game remaining Maritimo were reduced to 10 men after Edgar Costa picked up his second yellow card of the evening, but they managed to hold off a late surge from their opponents to claim the three points.
