Tyrone Mings: 'I nearly quit football to become mortgage adviser'

Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings says that he nearly quit non-league football to become a mortgage advisor.

Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings has said that he nearly quit football to become a mortgage advisor.

The 22-year-old played non-league football for Yate Town and Chippenham Town before signing for Ipswich Town in 2012.

"I was very close to quitting. I wasn't getting what I wanted from football and what I always dreamed of," Mings told the Daily Mirror.

"Financially I would have been in a better position being a mortgage advisor than playing non-League. I was going to knock football on the head. People chase the dream for years and don't make it. It didn't make sense to chase it."

Mings signed for Bournemouth for a club-record fee in June, believed to be around £8m.
