Steve Cotterill: 'Bristol City have performed better'

Steve Cotterill claims that his Bristol City side looked tired against Notts County despite winning 4-0 at Ashton Gate to move clear at the top of League One.

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill has claimed that his team have produced better displays than their 4-0 demolition of Notts County this afternoon.

Goals from Joe Bryan, Matt Smith, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Derrick Williams saw the Robins move three points clear of Swindon Town at the top of League One.

However, Cotterill has suggested that his team looked tired at times, despite the emphatic scoreline.

He told reporters: "We've performed better than that. We controlled the game and it could have been more than four.

"We managed the game and the lads are learning that. We kept possession to tire the opposition.

"We've done plenty of travelling and I think they looked a little tired out there, perhaps that's why it wasn't more than four."

City's attention now turns to the FA Cup third-round replay at home to Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday.
