Goals from Danny Haynes and Daniel Seaborne help Charlton Athletic to a 2-0 victory at lowly Bristol City.

Goals either side of half-time from Danny Haynes and Michael Morrison gave Charlton Athletic a 2-0 victory over the Championship's basement club Bristol City this afternoon.

Derek McInnes's side started brightly and almost forced an opening when Martyn Woolford found space to shoot in the tenth minute, but Leon Cort produced a vital block.

Salim Kerkar had an opportunity for Charlton at the other end, forcing a good save from Robbins keeper Tom Heaton.

The Addicks edged their noses in front on the 20-minute mark, and it was former Robbins star Haynes who gave them the lead, finding the bottom corner from Dale Stephens's pass.

Bristol City almost hit back seven minutes later when Woolford found Sam Baldock in space, but he failed to trouble Ben Hamer between the Charlton sticks.

The Robbins' were punished for their wastefulness 11 minutes into the second period when Morrison bundled home to make it 2-0 to the visitors.

Bristol's City's attempts to claw their way back into the game proved futile as Charlton closed up shop and kept a clean sheet.
