Billy Kee goal gives Burton Albion win

Billy Kee gives Burton Albion all three points with an early strike against Accrington Stanley.

A Billy Kee strike in the opening 10 minutes of Burton Albion's game with Accrington Stanley was enough to secure all three points for the home side at the Pirelli Stadium this afternoon.

The home side were pressing from the start, with Kee denied a shot in the opening minute after being flagged offside.

Kee got another chance in the ninth minute when Calvin Zola set him up to fire the ball into the back of the net from close range.

Burton could have doubled their lead in the 24th minute when Kee crossed the ball to Zander Diamond, but the Scot's shot was saved by on-loan keeper Paul Rachubka.

Accrington showed some fight in the final 15 minutes of the first half, but Albion's back four were strong, rarely allowing the ball to reach Dean Lyness.

The teams were evenly-matched at the start of the second half, with both keepers called upon.

Burton again looked the more likely to score as the match progressed, Kee and Zola forming a formidable partnership up front.

Romuald Boco spurned two chances for an equaliser in stoppage time, as one effort was saved by Lyness while another one minute later drifted wide.

The win moves Burton up to ninth in the League Two table, just one point outside the playoff places.
