Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Sandro claims that a win against Chelsea will prove that the North London club are title contenders.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Sandro believes that his side can make a statement about their title credentials against Chelsea on Thursday night.

Spurs currently sit in third place, seven points behind league leaders Manchester City with a game in hand.

Sandro insists that a win against London rivals Chelsea on Thursday will prove that they are serious contenders to win their first league title for 50 years.

The Brazilian international said: "We can make a statement if we win against Chelsea.

"It will give us the belief that we can win the league."

Harry Redknapp's side are sweating over the fitness of wingers Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale ahead of Thursday's clash with fourth-placed Chelsea.
