Liverpool and Chelsea are reportedly among the Premier League clubs keeping tabs on 15-year-old Grimsby Town duo Louis Boyd and Ben Grist.

Liverpool and Chelsea are reportedly among the Premier League clubs keeping tabs on Grimsby Town youngsters Louis Boyd and Ben Grist.

The duo, who are both 15 years old, have begun to break into the first-team set-up at Blundell Park this season, being named in the squad for last month's EFL Trophy match against Harrogate Town.

Boyd came off the bench in that match to become Grimsby's youngest ever player at the age of just 15 years and 324 days, and then made his league debut for the club against Walsall four days later.

Grist is yet to feature for Ian Holloway's side, but The Athletic claims that the pair are on the radar of a host of Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Chelsea.

Boyd and Grist are still doing their GCSEs alongside playing for Grimsby, but the League Two outfit could be forced to cash in on their academy graduates due to the financial impact of coronavirus.

The Mariners are facing losses of around £700,000 this season and know that Boyd and Grist are already among their most valuable assets.

Grimsby have been limited to only three league games this season due to coronavirus-related postponements.
