Report: Filipe Luis release clause could top £37m

Atletico Madrid left-back Filipe Luis could cost Chelsea £37m this summer.

Chelsea will reportedly have to part with £37m if they want to sign Brazilian left-back Filipe Luis from Atletico Madrid this summer.

Despite not travelling with his country to the World Cup, Luis is widely regarded as one of the best full-backs in European football.

The 28-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea in recent weeks, with the Blues preparing for life after Ashley Cole.

However, according to AS, Atletico, who won their first La Liga title since 1996 last term, will not sanction a sale unless Luis's release clause is met.

That particular figure could reportedly top £37m when the tax on the defender's clause is taken into account.
