Half-Time Report: Derby County level against 10-man Watford

Darren Bent equalises for Derby County from the penalty spot after Matej Vydra put Watford ahead in the Championship.

Derby County have come from a goal down to head into half time level at 1-1 with 10-man Watford at the iPro Stadium in the Championship this evening.

The home side were on the attack early as George Thorne tried his luck from outside the box, but his long-range finish was well high of the bar.

Miguel Layun tried to create something down the other end for the visitors as he curled the ball in from a corner, but Troy Deeney could not keep his header down.

Derby continued to create the majority of the chances early on, but Heurelho Gomes did enough to keep the home side out, stopping a Darren Bent tap-in at the near post.

Despite the Rams' early dominance, it was Watford who took the lead when Matej Vydra skipped around Cyrus Christie as the defender failed to clear the ball, leaving the striker to volley it past Lee Grant.

Derby could have been back on level terms just a few minutes later when Will Hughes dodged a couple of challenges before unleashing a powerful, low drive, but the England Under-21 international's finish was just off target.

The hosts were handed the chance to draw level just before the break though when Marco Motta brought Hughes down inside the area, earning himself a red card and leaving Bent to level the scores from the penalty spot.
