Report: FA to interview Sam Allardyce this week over England vacancy

The Football Association will reportedly interview Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce this week over the England vacancy.

The Football Association is reportedly planning to interview Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce this week over potentially becoming the new England manager.

The 61-year-old is believed to be on a list of candidates for the job, which was left vacant by Roy Hodgson after the Three Lions' humiliating Euro 2016 exit to Iceland in the last-16 stage.

According to The Guardian, Allardyce, who has only been in charge of the Black Cats for nine months, has been invited to discuss the job with the FA this week.

USA head coach Jurgen Klinsmann is a leading contender for the position, but it has been reported that the FA hiring panel are keen on Allardyce as they believe that he will work within the current structure at St George's Park.

The former West Ham United boss helped Sunderland retain their Premier League status last season after arriving at the Stadium of Light to replace Dick Advocaat.
