Roberto Martinez: Everton must "keep evolving"

Everton manager Roberto Martinez insists that the club must "keep evolving" next season.

Roberto Martinez has insisted that Everton must "keep evolving" as they prepare for the 2014-15 Premier League season.

The Toffees finished fifth in the table in Martinez's first year in charge at the club, securing a place in next season's Europa League.

The manager told the Liverpool Echo: "It's fascinating to have fans seeing signs of that and it's encouraging for us to keep improving and keep evolving and to always be considered by the outside world as a very good football team.

"I have learned a lot about the club. When I started to find out about the history and heritage of the club, it was fascinating because we are so fortunate to have that.

"I use it at times for inspiration. People who were at the club many years ago who were incredible ambassadors and effected the DNA of our football club have been a real inspiration. Our history gives us great direction for our future."

Everton finished seven points behind Arsenal, who clinched the final Champions League place.
