Germany coach Joachim Low insists that his side have been boosted by the news that Greece captain Giorgos Karagounis is banned for their quarter-final clash.

Germany coach Joachim Low believes that Greece will miss Giorgos Karagounis when the two nations meet in the quarter-finals of Euro 2012 later this week.

The Greek captain has been handed a one-match suspension after receiving two cautions during the group stages.

Discussing the veteran midfielder's absence, Low claimed that his side will be boosted by the news.

"[Karagounis] is one of the creative heads in the team," he told reporters. "Greece will miss him."

Germany qualified for the final eight of the competition as winners of Group B.
