Massimo Moratti has confirmed that Inter Milan are in talks with Parma for France Under-20 international Ishak Belfodil.
The 21-year-old arrived at the Stadio Ennio Tardini last summer after a stint on loan at Bologna and scored eight goals in his first full season in Italy.
Nerazurri president Moratti believes that the Algeria-born forward has the potential to become the next Karim Benzema, and refused to rule out the possibility of sending Antonio Cassano in the opposite direction.
"Belfodil is a player we are negotiating for," Sky Sports News quotes Moratti as saying. "There is not yet an agreement, we are still dealing with Parma.
"I like him a lot, he could be the new Benzema. We will try to do everything to let the team start the season the best way.
"Cassano to Parma? Let's see, it's possible but everything is not yet defined."
Belfodil came through the youth ranks at Lyon before being loaned out to Bologna early in 2012.
