Mick McCarthy hails two-goal Daryl Murphy

Mick McCarthy says that Ipswich Town striker Daryl McCarthy is in the form of his life following his brace in Sunday's draw at Nottingham Forest.

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy has praised striker Daryl Murphy for his brace in Sunday's 2-2 draw away to Nottingham Forest.

The Irishman struck once in each half as Ipswich held the Championship co-leaders to a point at the City Ground.

McCarthy, who previously managed the 31-year-old at Sunderland, says that Murphy is now in the form of his career.

"They were two great goals from a striker playing some of the best football of his career and enjoying his football," he told Sky Sports News.

"I have known him for a long time and Terry [Conor] is one of the best coaches of strikers I have seen and he's done wonders with him."

The Tractor Boys had looked good to take all three points before Michail Antonio struck a stoppage-time equaliser.
