Gianluigi Buffon: "We wanted to get through at all costs"

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon admits that the team wanted to progress "at all costs" to the Champions League semi-finals following their aggregate win over Monaco.

Gianluigi Buffon has admitted that Juventus wanted to secure a place in the last four of the Champions League "at all costs".

The Serie A champions' 1-0 win in the first leg against AS Monaco was enough to send them through to the semi-final after the two clubs played to a goalless draw at Stade Louis II this evening.

After securing a first semi-final appearance since the 2002-03 season, the goalkeeper said: "I thought I'd have to wait less than 12 years to reach a Champions League semi. We wanted to get through at all costs."

Juventus reached the final four times between 1996 and 2003, winning once to add to their 1984-85 European Cup success.
