Defending champions Lazio took on Parma on Tuesday night for a place in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia.
The winner of this all-Serie A tie would book a date with either Napoli or Atalanta in the last eight.
In a tight affair, Lazio found a dramatic, late winner to move into the next round of the competition.
Read how it all unfolded in the live commentary below.
Good evening and welcome to Sports Mole's live coverage of the Coppa Italia where reigning champions Lazio host Parma at the Stadio Olimpico.
It's cup time in Italy, and the holders are in action. Lazio beat arch rivals Roma in the final last season, and will be hoping to emerge successful in the competition again this term. The winner of this tie will meet either high-flying Napoli or Atalanta in the last eight.
A good run in the competition would be the perfect tonic for Lazio, as they look to kick-start their relatively poor Serie A campaign. Winning becomes a habit, so they say. Or at least that's what new manager Edoardo Reja will be hoping having replaced the sacked Vladimir Petkovic on the bench earlier this month. However, Reja did say that his Lazio team, that sit ninth in Serie A and eight points off the European places, would be rotated for the game this evening.
Meanwhile Parma, who sit two points and a place above Lazio in the league, will be looking to continue their impressive unbeaten run of nine games in all competitions. However, they haven't won away at the Olimpico since a Serie A match back in 2009. Roberto Donadoni will undoubtedly shake up his team, with the recently-dropped Antonio Cassano and Nicola Sansone both likely to start.
While on the topic of team news, let's take a look and see what the managers have gone with this evening, starting with Lazio.
LAZIO XI: Berisha, Konko, Ciani, Novaretti, Radu, Onazi, Biglia, Keita, Ederson, Felipe Anderson, Perea
Reja has kept to his word and named a much-changed side as Lazio make nine changes to the team that faced Bologna at the weekend.
Only goalkeeper Etrit Berisha and Brazilian playmaker Felipe Anderson keep their place in the side. The entire back four is changed with Stefan Radu coming in as captain, and Brayan Perea leads the line up front.
I'll bring you the news from the Lazio bench once I get it. But until then, here is the Parma lineup.
PARMA XI: Bajza, Cassani, Felipe, Paletta, Gobbi, Parolo, Marchionni, Gargano, Biabiany, Cassano, Sansone
Donadoni sticks with a largely familiar starting team, with Jonathan Biabiany, Antonio Cassano and Nicola Sansone starting in attack.
So those are your two starting teams.
Lazio will expect a certain victory and progress into the next round of the cup tonight, especially since they've been much better at home than away this season. The Rome outfit have won their last two matches at home, against Livorno and Inter, but in turn were beaten away 4-1 by Verona before drawing with Bologna last weekend. However, since appointing Reja as their manager, his extremely defensive style has managed to earn four points from two matches.
Parma have traditionally been better at home than on the road, but are currently unbeaten away from home since November. However, They have drawn five times during that period, but have beaten Torino and Livorno already in this competition.
Out come the teams, are we're ready to go.
KICK OFF! We're underway. Lazio in their light blue shirts with white shorts and socks, while Parma wear all black.
Not the greatest start for Parma as Radu slides in from a corner at the far post and crashes into Bajza, who has stayed down and needs treatment.
At one point it looked certain that Bajza would be coming off, but play has now continued after a few minutes of treatment.
CHANCE! The first shot on goal of the match goes to Parma, and Parolo races onto a pass into the left side of the penalty area. He gets a shot away with his left foot, but lofts it over Berisha and the Lazio crossbar.
Lazio are starting to take control of possession now, but are yet to test Rajza.
CHANCE! Again it's fallen to Parma, and again it's comfortable for Lazio. The corner is swung in to the back post from the left, but the grappling Sansone can only head the ball over.
MISS! Huge chance for Lazio to take the lead, as Onazi floats a cross from the right to the far post. Rajza looks to have this covered, but Balde comes out of nowhere and skies his shot over from close range. Should have done much better there.
Despite having had more possession, Lazio have not really created too much.
CHANCE! As I say that, Lazio should go in front. A dangerous corner is swung in to the edge of the six-yard area from the left, and it's far too easy for Perea to get his head to the ball. However, he nods the ball straight at Bajza, and Parma are mightely relieved.
Parma are weathering a bit of a storm from the home side at the moment though, as Lazio enjoy a succession of corners.
GOAL! Lazio 1-0 Parma (Brayan Perea)
There it is, Lazio are in front! Onazi smashes a low effort from range outside the box on the right, which is stopped by Bajza. However, he can only parry it right in front of him, where Perea snaps it up and makes it 1-0.
CLOSE! Nearly an instant response from Parma and Antonio Cassano. The Italian picks up the ball on the left of the box, before jinking inside and curling a dipping shot just wide of the back post.
YELLOW CARD: Lucas Biglia goes into the book for Lazio after a handball. Seemed a bit harsh , and Parma have a free kick.
Parma opt to go for goal from range, but the low free kick is easily held by Berisha.
CHANCE! Parma go close again, this time through Parolo. After some nice build-up play, he hammers a low shot across the face of goal which takes a deflection on it's way to sailing wide.
Parma have responded fairly well since falling behind, and have been the better team over the past number of minutes. They've come close a couple of times, but haven't tested Berisha yet.
GOAL! Lazio 1-1 Parma (Jonathan Biabiany)
Parma are level and deservedly so. The ball is clipped into the far post where Biabiany is left unmarked. However, he brilliantly brings the ball under control, before taking a touch to set himself and curl the finish into the far corner. Game on.
We will have three minutes of added time at the end of this first half.
YELLOW CARD: Felipe is booked by the referee for tripping Ederson on the run. However, the Lazio man didn't half throw himself to the ground.
Lazio have a pop at goal from the free kick, which is slammed low towards the near post. Bajza has so much time to collect this, but he fumbles it once again and just gets away with it.
HALF TIME: Lazio 1-1 Parma
Decent half of football there, with a deserved scoreline at the break.
The holders went ahead thanks to a Rajza spillage that led to a delicate chipped finish by Perea. However, Parma responded well and deservedly got back on level terms thanks to a brilliant bit of close control and finish from Biabiany.
Parma have returned early for the second half. They'll be keen to carry on as they left off.
Lazio have now also made their way back out. Parma to kick off.
KICK OFF! Parma, playing from left to right, get the second half up and running.
Early save for Bajza, but it was relatively comfortable as Onazi's side-foot shot lack power.
CHANCE! Big opportunity for Parma to take the lead as Cassano crosses from the left of the box. Gargano arrives at the far post and has a clear sight of goal, but he volleys over the bar.
Parma are on top at the moment, but haven't managed to draw a save out of Berisha.
LAZIO CHANGE: First switch of the match as Stefan Radu jogs off and is replaced by Luis Cavanda.
Lazio have started to come back into the game a bit more now, but the match has been a bit drab so far in this second half.
German international Miroslav Klose, who is out of contract with Lazio at the end of the season, is preparing to come on.
Raffaele Palladino is also stripped and ready to come on for Parma. Something needs to change to liven this up a bit.
PARMA CHANGE: Bit of a surprise this one, as it's Biabiany, who scored Parma's equaliser, who makes his way off. Palladino on.
LAZIO CHANGE: And here is Klose, coming on for Ederson.
CLOSE! How this isn't a goal I will never know, and Parma should be in front. The Lazio penalty area is crowded with bodies, as Gobbi tricks his way to the byline on the left of the box before cutting a pass back across goal. The ball ends up with an open goal for Sansone, who just has to tap it in. Yet, amazingly, he passes it straight to the goalkeeper, who was already outstretched on the deck. Woeful.
Andre Dias will shortly enter the fray for Lazio.
LAZIO CHANGE: Third and final substitution for Lazio as Diego Novaretti comes off, with Dias sent on.
Apologies for the lack of on-field description, but there really is not a lot going on. It's been a disappointing second period.
This will go to extra time and penalties if needs be. It must be settled tonight.
Parolo has been fairly lively in this match, and is played in on the right of the Lazio box. He gets to the byline and slams a low cross inside, which results in a heap of players battling for the ball, but the ball going behind.
Lazio are awarded a free kick on the right and dink it into the box. What follows is a flurry of pinball before Parma can hack it clear.
The game is starting to become a bit more stretched with just a few minutes remaining of normal time. You would think that a goal now would prove to be the winner.
YELLOW CARDS: One each for the two teams, as Lazio's Perea and Cassani of Parma are booked for late tackles.
There will be two minutes of added time. Can either side find a winner?
GOAL! Lazio 2-1 Parma (Brayan Perea)
That is surely the goal that wins Lazio the match. The cross comes in from the right, and Parma's defending is poor. Perea is left completely unmarked, and takes one touch to flick the ball up before finishing into the back of the net with his second. Well taken by the striker.
FULL TIME: Lazio 2-1 Parma
Well they left it until the final minutes, but Lazio are through to the last eight thanks to a brace from Perea.
That's it from me, I hope you enjoyed the game. Until the next time it's goodnight.
