Jurgen Klopp "quite hopeful" of Mohamed Salah return for Manchester City clash

Jurgen Klopp remains hopeful of having Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson available for the second leg of Liverpool's Champions League tie against Manchester City.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he is "quite hopeful" of having a couple of key men back available for the Champions League meeting with Manchester City.

The Reds have been left sweating on the fitness of Mohamed Salah, who hobbled off in the first leg and was forced to sit out the weekend stalemate with Everton.

Full-back Andrew Robertson also picked up a knock in the 3-0 win at Anfield, while replacement Alberto Moreno was injured during the warm-up at Goodison Park two days ago.

Klopp says that he will know more about the extent of each injury as the hours go by, but is "quite hopeful" of having each player back in time for the midweek trip to Manchester.

"I have no real clue at the moment because we have to wait a little bit," he told the club's official website. "You can imagine, in this short period between games, it is quite difficult so I have to wait each minute I can and that's what I'll do. There's nothing new at the moment, we will see.

"We will see in five hours until we train and we'll know who is involved in that. I don't know at the moment 100%, but I am quite hopeful we will have a bigger squad than we had at Everton.

"The guys who were on the bench at Everton - Ox (Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain), Bobby (Roberto Firmino) and Trent [Alexander-Arnold] from the first-team squad - for them, it was good not to play too long. They are fine, they were fine when I left Melwood yesterday.

"With Mo, Robbo and Alberto, we have to wait a little bit but of course [we have] big hope they will be back. Ben Woodburn is back after a long period and trained yesterday completely normal, which is really good for us."

Liverpool have lost just one of their last 12 matches in all competitions, with eight of those ending in victory.
