Former Wales winger Leighton James has slammed the decision to ban the singing of national anthems during Sunday's Carling Cup final between Liverpool and Cardiff City.
The Football League were reportedly keen to avoid fans jeering rival anthems.
"It's an insult to Cardiff fans," James told The Sun. "There'll be more than 30,000 at Wembley, and they'll want to know why they can't sing their anthem.
"It's something for Cardiff City to take up with the authorities, but it's difficult to imagine they agreed with it."
James made 54 appearances for Wales between 1971 and 1983, scoring 10 goals.
