Paul Lambert to use 'Jurgen Klopp style' at Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Paul Lambert outlines plans to bring Jurgen Klopp's pressing style of football to Molineux.

New Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Paul Lambert has outlined plans to bring Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp's high-intensity, pressing style of football to the Championship club.

The former Aston Villa boss took the reins at Molineux earlier this month following the sacking of Walter Zenga after a run of just four wins in the first 14 games of the season.

Lambert became friends with Klopp, whose side currently sit top of the Premier League, when they did their coaching badges together 12 years ago, and the Scot is keen to replicate the success Klopp has enjoyed with the Reds and former side Borussia Dortmund.

"My way is to be on the front foot. It's not always possible but that is the idea," Lambert told reporters. "You look at Klopp and [Pep] Guardiola and see different things. They have taken it to a major level with massive clubs and won huge things.

"I did the Pro Licence with Jurgen in 2004 and I also spent nine days with him when he was at Dortmund, took in a couple of games and watched training, so I know him pretty well.

"He has got Liverpool flying. I'm pretty sure if I needed anything I could pick up the phone to him."

Lambert takes charge of Wolves for the first time this afternoon as they visit mid-table Preston North End.
