Brendan Rodgers aims for perfect ten against Manchester City

Brendan Rodgers challenges Liverpool to register their tenth successive Premier League win by beating Man City at Anfield next weekend.

Brendan Rodgers has challenged his Liverpool team to register their tenth successive Premier League win by beating Manchester City at Anfield next weekend.

The Reds extended their winning streak to nine games with a 2-1 win over West Ham United at Upton Park this evening to move top of the table once more.

Manuel Pellegrini's men are next up to attempt to unseat the in-form Merseyside club, and Rodgers hopes that his troops can make it a perfect ten by beating their title rivals on Sunday.

He told Sky Sports: "It's nine games on the spin now, which is an incredible effort by the players and the staff. Today was a really tough game for us, now we will recover and reflect on the game.

"It is going to be a magnificent atmosphere at Anfield. The supporters really urged us on today and we want to see if we can get 10 in a row."

Two Steven Gerrard penalties secured the win for Rodgers's men in East London this afternoon as Liverpool returned to the summit of the standings.
