Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge: "I don't worry about injuries at all"

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge insists that he does not worry about injuries, despite having missed large chunks of football in the last couple of seasons.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has insisted that he never worries about getting injured, despite spending lengthy spells on the treatment table in the last few years.

The England international has been dogged by hip and thigh problems of late, and he made just 14 Premier League appearances last season.

It is touch and go whether the 26-year-old will be fit for tomorrow's league opener against Arsenal, but in general, the forward is not concerned about his injury record.

"I don't know if there are many people who could have dealt with the things I have and still be where I am today, and still be in the positive light I'm in," Sturridge told The Times.

"Are you talented? Do people enjoy watching you play? Do you excite the fans? I do those things. I'm happy with how my career's going so far. There are still things to win, still things to achieve. I want to be recognised as the best player in the league.

"I don't worry about injuries at all. It's something I have to accept. God gave me this body and gave me so many talents, so I have to take the rough with the smooth."

Sturridge scored eight league goals last season.
