Roberto Martinez rubbishes Ross Barkley exit talk

Everton manager Roberto Martinez dismisses speculation that Liverpool are preparing a £38m bid for Ross Barkley.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has rubbished reports that Liverpool are preparing a £38m bid for Ross Barkley.

It was claimed on Tuesday that the Reds were ready to break their transfer record in order to land the 20-year-old midfielder.

However, Martinez has laughed off suggestions that he could sell the youngster to Everton's local rivals.

"Well, according to speculation, we turned down £50m from Man Utd so we certainly wouldn't accept £38m from Liverpool," the Spaniard told reporters.

Barkley has scored six goals in 34 appearances for Everton so far this season.
