Thursday's La Liga predictions including Athletic Bilbao vs. Real Betis

Girona vs. Mallorca (Thursday, 6.30pm)

Two sides with an outside chance of Europe meet at the Estadio Municipal de Montilivi on Thursday, when Girona face Mallorca in La Liga.

Should seventh place open up as a route into the Europa Conference League, both sides will still fancy their chances.

We say: Girona 1-0 Mallorca

Girona are very strong at home and Mallorca have been poor on the road, so the hosts look likeliest to keep their own respective European push going.

It has never been a fixture blessed with many goals, as the last 11 meetings have all seen two goals or fewer.

Sevilla vs. Espanyol (Thursday, 6.30pm)

After beating Getafe at the weekend, relegation-threatened Espanyol will attempt to record a second straight victory when they travel to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan to face Sevilla on Thursday.

The hosts, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from Monday's disappointing 2-0 home defeat against Girona.

We say: Sevilla 2-1 Espanyol

The visitors will be looking to take advantage of a Sevilla side that may have one eye on next week's Europa League clash with Juventus.

However, Espanyol's backline has struggled in recent away games, and we think their defensive vulnerability will help Sevilla claim a narrow home win.

Athletic Bilbao vs. Betis (Thursday, 9.00pm)

Athletic Bilbao and Real Betis are separated by two points in the La Liga table ahead of their pivotal showdown at San Mames on Thursday evening.

With six games remaining, seventh-placed Athletic trail sixth-placed Betis as both sides aim to secure a European berth before the end of the season.

We say: Athletic Bilbao 1-1 Real Betis

While Athletic Bilbao have struggled for consistency on home soil in recent times, Real Betis have faltered on the road, losing each of their last three away league games.

With that in mind, we expect Athletic and Betis to share the points at San Mames as both sides aim to avoid defeat and keep their respective European pushes alive.

Rayo Vallecano vs. Valladolid (Thursday, 9.00pm)

Rayo Vallecano will be aiming to maintain their status in the top half of La Liga with a positive result against Real Valladolid on Thursday evening.

Valladolid, meanwhile, are still not completely safe from relegation following their promotion from the second tier last season.

We say: Rayo Vallecano 2-2 Real Valladolid

Vallecano have little to play for between now and the rest of the season, but they will be determined to bounce back from their humiliation at the hands of La Liga's worst performing team by a distance last time out.

As such, we can envisage an entertaining affair playing out between these two sides, with the visitors likely to accept avoiding defeat as they attempt to put more distance between themselves and the relegation zone.
