Manchester City's Sergio Aguero: 'Barcelona clashes are like derbies'

Aguero: 'Playing Barca is like a derby'

Sergio Aguero says that matches between Manchester City and Barcelona are like derbies due to the frequent meetings in the Champions League.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has claimed that matches against Barcelona have become derbies given how often the two teams play one another in Europe.

The clubs have met in the Champions League five times in less than three years, and they go head to head once again this evening.

This will be the first time that Pep Guardiola has faced his former club at Camp Nou since becoming City manager in the summer.

"Honestly, it wasn't a total surprise to see us drawn in the same group," Aguero told the club's official website. "It must be fate, mustn't it? The good thing is that it's becoming a derby of sorts. Playing with one of the best teams of the world will also give us a better impression of our progress.

"We'll have to see how it plays out. Every match is different and we're still at the beginning of a process that has proven beneficial, but yet to be established.

"There's one thing I know for certain - it's going to be quite a game and it's one we're all looking forward to."

City are currently second in the group, two points behind leaders Barcelona.
