An Edin Dzeko volley has given Manchester City a 1-0 lead over West Bromwich Albion at half time in their Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium this evening.
Romelu Lukaku had a series of early chances for the visitors, forcing a save from Joe Hart inside the opening two minutes, before blasting a second opportunity wide just moments later.
The Baggies continued to see the majority of the possession, but Boaz Myhill almost gifted City the opening 21 minutes by failing to collect a delivery, allowing Jack Rodwell a close-range strike, but his effort went well high.
Last season's English champions grew stronger as the first half continued, with Carlos Tevez narrowly missing from the edge of the area before James Milner spurned a chance and Tevez saw another attempt denied by the crossbar.
The hosts made the breakthrough in the 35th minute when Tevez picked the ball up in midfield before crossing in towards Dzeko, allowing the Bosnian to volley it into the back of the net.
Roberto Mancini's side had several chances to double their advantage before the break, but Dzeko had a shot deflected for a corner, while Milner was denied by the post.
