Manchester City chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak says that the club will be holding contract talks with Micah Richards and Pablo Zabaleta.

Manchester City have confirmed that they will be holding contract extension talks with defenders Micah Richards and Pablo Zabaleta.

The club has signed several players to long-term deals in recent months, including Yaya Toure and David Silva.

Chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak told the club's official website: "There are other players coming soon, Zabaleta, Micah Richards. We'll make sure these players stay part of the future at City because they are really the core of this team.

"As much as we need to continue to invest in this team we also need to invest in the core foundation of the team, which is these players."

Richards joined City in 2005, while Zabaleta signed in 2008.
