Sunderland are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell.
The 23-year-old has made just seven league starts for City since joining the club from Everton in 2012.
The reigning Premier League champions are said to be keen to offload the player following the arrival of Fernando at the Etihad Stadium.
Sunderland sporting director Lee Congerton has said that the club are looking to sign Rodwell on loan, according to the Sunderland Echo.
Meanwhile, Everton boss Roberto Martinez is reportedly looking to take Rodwell back to Goodison Park.
