Half-Time Report: Manchester United keeping West Ham United out

David de Gea makes two crucial saves as West Ham United and Manchester United play out a goalless first half at Upton Park.

West Ham United had the better chances in the first half of this afternoon's Premier League affair against Manchester United, but it remains goalless at the break at Upton Park.

After a cagey opening 10 minutes, the Hammers were denied an opening goal by Man Utd keeper David de Gea, who acrobatically tipped Enner Valencia's close-range effort over the bar.

The game continued at a high tempo, but neither side really threatened until the 32nd minute when De Gea again came to the visitors' rescue with a outstretched foot to keep James Tomkins's header out.

The closest Man Utd came to a goal in the opening half was shortly before the interval when Angel Di Maria lined up a shot from distance and fired a powerful effort straight into the belly of West Ham stopper Adrian.
