Massimiliano Allegri plays down Manchester United link

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri claims that reports linking him with Manchester United are false.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has suggested that reports linking him with replacing Louis van Gaal at Manchester United are wide of the mark.

It had been reported on Wednesday that the Italian coach, who has been in charge of Juve since 2014, was being lined up to succeed Van Gaal as United manager.

Allegri, who led the Old Lady to the Serie A title and the Champions League final last season, has insisted that he is concentrating on his work with Juve.

"I'm very happy to coach Juventus and remain fully focused on achieving the very important objectives we have here," The Telegraph quotes the 48-year-old as saying.

Allegri, who also won a Scudetto with AC Milan, is contracted to Juventus until 2017.
