Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata says that his side's clash with Liverpool is one of the biggest games of the season.

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has said that his side's clash with Liverpool is one of the biggest games of the season.

The Spanish international has helped the Red Devils make an unbeaten start in 2017-18, scoring once in seven league appearances.

United currently sit second in the Premier League, and a win on Saturday would see them move top of the table and go 10 points clear of North-West rivals Liverpool.

Writing in his blog on the club's official website, the 29-year-old recognised the importance of the visit to Anfield.

"This is one of the big games of the season without a doubt," he said. "There's no need to say what it means for us and for our fans, and I hope that we can play a great game and take the three points to Manchester."

Mata has scored 37 goals in 155 appearances since moving to Old Trafford in 2014.
