David Moyes convinced of Marouane Fellaini innocence

Manchester United boss David Moyes believes that midfielder Marouane Felliani will not be found guilty of spitting at Manchester City's Pablo Zabaleta.

Manchester United boss David Moyes is confident that midfielder Marouane Fellaini will not be found guilty of spitting at Manchester City's Pablo Zabaleta on Tuesday.

The accusation came during City's 3-0 derby win at Old Trafford during the week, in which the Belgium international was booked for an elbow on his Argentine counterpart before appearing to spit at the defender's head.

The Football Association has reportedly launched an investigation into the incident, but Moyes claims to have been given assurances by his player that he will be cleared of any wrongdoing.

"I've spoke with Marouane and he says it isn't the case," the Scot told reporters.

"We will work with the FA if that is what we have to do. Marouane is adamant that at no time did he do that (spit at Zabaleta). I don't think it is completely conclusive, from what I've seen."

Hull City's George Boyd was recently issued with a three-game ban by the FA for allegedly spitting at goalkeeper Joe Hart.
