Radamel Falcao: 'Manchester United move almost didn't happen'

New Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao admits that his loan move to the club was close to failing on transfer deadline day.

Radamel Falcao has revealed that his deadline-day move to Manchester United almost didn't happen.

The 28-year-old sealed a loan move to the Red Devils after the club agreed a £6m fee with Monaco for his services for the year.

However, the transfer wasn't announced until 1.30am on Tuesday, two-and-a-half hours after the deadline, as Louis van Gaal's side managed to secure an extension to complete the deal.

"No-one has the idea of the stress I experienced at the time," Falcao is quoted as saying by The Mirror. "The transfer almost wasn't achieved but thank God we had an additional hour and then it occurred."

Falcao is currently on international duty with Colombia in their friendly clash with Brazil.
