Report: Manchester United agree £16m deal to sign Sporting Lisbon's Marcos Rojo

Manchester United are reportedly poised to sign Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo in a £16m deal, which includes Nani returning to the Portuguese club on loan.

Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo appears to be edging closer to a move to Manchester United after both clubs reportedly agreed on a £16m deal.

The Argentina international has apologised for his "unprofessional" behaviour after missing training last week in a bid to force through a move.

Despite suggestions that he may stay put at Sporting, Goal.com has claimed that United will pay a £16m fee, plus send Nani to the Portuguese outfit on a season-long loan.

United are in the market for defenders following the departures of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand this summer, but their transfer strategy has come under scrutiny once again.

After Louis van Gaal was appointed as David Moyes's replacement in May, United have only managed to acquire the signatures of midfielder Ander Herrera and left-back Luke Shaw.

The North-West outfit are believed to be preparing a £100m package to sign Real Madrid's Angel di Maria.
