Manchester United's chief executive Ed Woodward: 'January signings unlikely'

Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward does not expect the club to be overly active during the January transfer window.

Chief executive Ed Woodward has admitted that he does not expect Manchester United to make significant additions during the January transfer window.

Over the course of the summer, the Red Devils spent a speculated £150m to recruit a host of players, including Angel di Maria, Radamel Falcao and Luke Shaw, with some reports suggesting that further signings could be made early next year.

However, when asked by reporters at the ongoing Soccerex event in Manchester if the club were in the market for more additions, Woodward said: "I wouldn't have expectations around January."

The 42-year-old added, though, that should Louis van Gaal identify a target for the winter window, the funds would be made available to him.
