Jose Anigo "not ashamed" of Marseille defeat

Marseille caretaker coach Jose Anigo believes that his players "gave everything" against Borussia Dortmund in their final Champions League Group F match.

Marseille caretaker coach Jose Anigo has insisted that he is "not ashamed" of his side's performance against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.

The French outfit suffered their sixth successive defeat in the Champions League as they went down 2-1 at home to the eventual Group F winners.

Les Phoceens played most of the contest at the Stade Velodrome with 10 men following the dismissal of Dimitri Payet in the 34th minute.

"We know that with 11 on the pitch it was already hard against last season's runners-up; with 10 it became very complicated, but we are not ashamed tonight because we gave everything," UEFA.com quotes Anigo as saying.

"This spirit is the account we want to give of our club and our city. Tonight the players put in a performance that shows what's needed to be a Marseille player, certain values. They are not to blame tonight, unlike in the previous games."

Marseille are currently fifth in Ligue 1.
