John Carver demands more consistent displays from Remy Cabella

Newcastle United caretaker manager John Carver believes that Remy Cabella is beginning to show supporters at St James' Park exactly what he is capable of.

John Carver has challenged Remy Cabella to produce high-quality performances on a more regular basis in a Newcastle United shirt.

The 24-year-old has greatly improved since making a somewhat slow start to life at St James' Park and bagged his first goal for the club in last week's 3-0 victory over Hull City.

Having now got off the mark, caretaker manager Carver wants Cabella to push on in the coming weeks and justify chief scout Graham Carr's decision to bring him to the Premier League last summer.

"Remy is now starting to produce things which Graham saw – and the fans are starting to see that," the Daily Mail quotes him as saying. "But with these flair players it has to be consistent, and that is difficult.

"He is starting to show some good traits. But work ethic is massive – if you haven't got that it doesn't matter how much ability you have, you won't be in my team.

"I have seen some goals on the training ground and thought, 'wow, I'd like to see that more often'. We got a glimpse of that at Hull last week. So there's definitely something in there, it's just him believing that he can do it on a consistent basis. Hopefully now we'll see him producing on the pitch on a more regular basis."

Cabella will be given another chance to impress when Newcastle face Stoke City later today.
